TAWAU: A 39-year-old foreigner suspected of being involved in burglary cases in the district was apprehended at a house in Jalan Kuhara at about 1.30am last Saturday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the man was hostile and tried to flee but the team, led by ASP Jafri Abd Hamid, was able to catch him.
“The team found the house unlocked and further inspections led to the man sitting in the living room.
“When the team introduced themselves, the man became aggressive and a commotion ensued when he tried to flee through the kitchen area,” he said, adding that the man was subsequently caught.
The team also recovered several items believed to be connected to the district’s burglary cases.
Among the things were several handphones, identification cards (MyKad), wallets, travel documents (passports), driver’s licences, ATM bank cards and a pair of blue jeans.
The case is being probed under Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)( c ) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
