Government donates RM60,000 to UiTM fund 
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government donated RM60,000 to the Education and Academic Development Fund of the Mara University of Technology (UiTM) Sabah branch.

Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, said the donation was to help coordinate the financial education of Bumiputera children, especially those in the B40 category, to ensure the continuity of the students’ education.

“We know that the majority of UiTM students come from the underprivileged group, so I call on all UiTM alumni, especially the Sabah branch, to donate to the UiTM Sabah Education and Academic Development Fund,” he said during the UiTM Sabah Alumni Association Charity Dinner in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of UITM Sabah branch.

His speech was read by the Speaker of the Sabah State Assembly, Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya.

Hajiji thanked those who helped raise funds including the UiTM Alumni Association. Well done and congratulations to UiTM as a whole for being among the 100 Best Universities in Asia for the first time in history when it reached the 98th position in the recently released 2024 Best Asia University Ranking.

“The achievement proves the result of cooperation between the university and alumni in ensuring that the excellence of the university is always a priority in addition to producing high quality graduates,” he said.

At the same ceremony, the First Alumni Award was also presented to Sabah Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, and the UiTM Alumni Icon Award to Kadzim, SICC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki and Rector of UiTM Sabah branch, Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Abdul Kadir Rosline.

The award is in recognition of the individuals who set an example for the success of UiTM Sabah branch throughout the 50 years of its establishment.

Also present were Yayasan Sabah Director, Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar, Chairman of Kota Kinabalu Water Concession Company, Jetama Sdn Bhd, Datuk Yussof Abdul Manan, Chairman of UiTM Sabah Alumni Association, Azhar Matussin and Deputy UiTM Sabah Alumni Association as well as Organising Chairman, Sazali Md Salleh.
