Man jailed for violating Parole Order 
The offence is punishable under Section 46N(3) of the Prisons Act 1995 which carries a jail term of up to two years, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old man was jailed 18 months, Thursday, for absconding before the expiry of  his Parole Order.

Mohd Yusof Jamreh pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to not complying with the condition of the Parole Order issued to him at 8pm on Dec 22, 2022 at the West Coast Halfway House, Taman Olivia, here.

The offence is punishable under Section 46N(3) of the Prisons Act 1995 which carries a jail term of up to two years, on conviction.

Earlier, the court was informed by the prosecution that a report was lodged by the Prisons officer on Dec 25, 2022 that Yusof have escaped before the expiry of his Parole Order which was from Dec 22, 2022 until Feb 10, 2023.

The prosecution said that on Jan 26, 2023, Yusof was arrested for another offence and was sentenced to jail.

A check found that Yusof did not comply with the conditions of the Parole Order issued to him, the court heard.

In another case, a 22-year-old man was fined RM1,500 or three months jail for assaulting a man, last year.

Md Hanael Althaf Han’s admitted to voluntarily causing hurt to  Ahmad Fahmi by punching his face at 4pm on July 30, 2022 at Lorong Angsa, Luyang.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.

The facts of the case stated that the victim was assaulted by three unknown men, including Hanael.

The court heard from the prosecution that the victim suffered injuries.

Counsel Datuk Maijol Mahap requested for lenient sentence.
