Kota Kinabalu: Assistant Youth and Sports Minister and Sabah Football Association vice president Datuk Fairuz Renddan has been appointed as chairman for the State’s teams competing in the Malaysia Football League, President Cup and Youth Cup next season.
Safa president Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who made the announcement on Saturday, said the appointment was unanimously approved by the executive committee in a meeting held recently.
He also said Asmey Ruddy is the team manager for the State squad bound for the Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Sarawak next year, and Shamsuddin Mohd Shah is the new Safa secretary general replacing Datuk Abdul Rahman Zakaria.
According to him, the appointment and restructuring are necessary for Safa to prepare the teams early for the competitions next year and also to ensure that the development and management can be run smoothly.
“Those appointed have extensive experience in the world of football and are definitely capable of bringing good to the sport in Sabah.
