Kota Kinabalu: Mohamed Nazim Maduarin was elected new President of Sabah Law Society (SLS) at its annual meeting (AGM) on Saturday.
Ryan Soo is Vice President.
The other office-bearers who were elected unopposed were Song Wei Wan as Secretary, Marianne Ghani (Assistant Secretary) and Jamadi Salleh (Treasurer).
The other committee members are Alvin Leong, Adrian Cham, Dominic Ghani, Ann Gilong, Saroja Palaniappan and Natasha Boyou. Meanwhile, Datuk Roger Chin shall remain in the committee as the Immediate Past President.
Mohamed Nazim expressed gratitude to the members of SLS for the honour and mandate given.
He outlined his vision and priorities for the SLS, which include enhancing the professional standards and ethics of the legal profession, promoting access to justice and legal aid, strengthening the engagement and collaboration with the judiciary, the Government and other stakeholders, and advancing the interests and welfare of the members.
In addition to this, Mohamed Nazim said over the years, the SLS has matured and is now an institution intricately woven into the fabric of Sabah society.
“The SLS is no longer merely a group of legal professionals but is now a channel for justice.
“The SLS remains steadfast in its mission to pursue justice, serving as the voice of reason in the constantly evolving landscape of Sabah,” he said.
