Floods: 10 evacuated in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Six men and four women were evacuated after flash floods hit Kampung Sepagaya, here, on Friday night.

A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call at 8.17pm.

“Upon arrival at the scene, a rescue team carried out an operation to evacuate 10 affected victims. All the victims were evacuated to their relatives’ houses nearby,” said the spokesperson.

Earlier, Kampung Teluk Soiun and Batu 8 in Silam were also hit by flash floods. However, no victims were evacuated.

Among the areas affected were Kg Sungai Langgas, Sg Atas and surrounding areas.

Some of the main routes near Kg Sg Langgas were impassable by light vehicles as the river overflowed its banks.
