Four fined RM8,500 for involvement in gambling
Rafidah was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act and carries a jail term of up to six months, or fine of up to RM3,000, or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: Four people were fined a total of RM8,500 by the Magistrate’s Court, here, Monday, for engaging in gambling activities.

Rafidah Abd Rahman, 25, Alneyra Tony, 23, Wansoon Francis, 22, and Salim Hassan, 63, who appeared separately before Magistrates Stephanie Sherron Abbie and Lovely Natasha Charles pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

Rafidah was fined RM4,000 or three months jail for having gambling paraphernalia illegally, including four lottery slips, a handphone and a mobile printer at 2pm on Oct 29 in Donggongon.

She confessed to the court of having committed the offence for the third time.

Alneyra was fined RM2,000 or two months jail for committing the offence in Donggongon on Sept 25, Wansoon was fined RM1,500 or two months for the offence committed on Oct 9 at Kg Tuavon, Penampang.

Salim was fined RM1,000 or two months jail for committing the offence at Putatan town on Oct 19.

The court was informed by the prosecution that gambling paraphernalia, including cash of RM390 and RM50, were seized from Alneyra and Wansoon respectively.

The three were charged under Section 7(2) of the same Act which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months jail or both, on conviction.
