KINABATANGAN: A baby Borneo elephant was rescued by rangers from the Sabah Wildlife Rescue Unit (WRU) after it was said to have exiled from its herd.
Citing a statement on the official Facebook page of the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF), Thursday, the baby elephant is now being cared for temporarily at the Borneo Elephant Sanctuary (BES) in Kinabatangan.
It will be there until the appropriate time comes for it to be released back to the animal’s natural habitat.
The Borneo elephant or Borneo pygmy is one of the country’s iconic animals.
