KOTA KINABALU: A senior citizen became the oldest organ donor in the State, said Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna.
The family of Selvaraju Shanmugam @ SS Raju, aged 83 years and nine months, donated a pair of corneas to two patients that shone a new light of hope in their lives.
Asits said the donor died of heart complications.
“He was a loving husband and father, was kind and constantly helped others in need,” he said in a statement, Friday.
Previously, the oldest organ donor in the State was 80 years and two months old in 2018, while the youngest was a year and four months old in 2008.
