Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) expects Sabah to exceed the revenue estimate of RM5.268 billion for this year.
Its President Datuk Michael Lui commended the State Government for achieving 89 per cent of the target (RM4.69 billion) as of August, and attributed it to the aggressiveness in implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan.
“Furthermore, the recovery and development of Sabah’s tourism industry brought positive benefits. With the increase in tourists, I think we will also achieve our target of 2.2m tourists this year, bringing in revenue of RM4.1b.
“In view of the global economy that is full of uncertainties and challenging environments, if we can maintain last year’s revenue (RM6.96 billion), it is already a bonus to all Sabahans.
