PPR Taman Mesra crowned champs

SANDAKAN: The People Housing Projects (PPR) Taman Mesra team, under the leadership of its manager, Baharudin Lamboding, emerged as the champions at the men’s futsal competition in conjunction with the Active Malaysia Programme @Community Sandakan Division.

The competition took place at the PPR Taman Murni futsal court on Monday.

The champions received a cash prize of RM1,000 along with medals and trophy. 

The runners-up were PPR Harmoni, the third place went to PPR Batu Putih and in fourth place were PPR Sg. Manilla.

The opening ceremony of the programme was officiated by Datuk Salzo Asa representing Libaran Member of Parliament Suhaimi Nasir. 

He presented gifts and certificates of appreciation to all those involved.

The programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) through the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN).

Its intention is to inculcate and popularise sports in the community by promoting an active, fit, and healthy lifestyle.

In addition to the futsal competition, a netball competition was also held on October 14 in conjunction with the National Sports Day. 

Furthermore, Aerobics sessions are conducted every weekend in nine PPR throughout the districts, starting November 12.  

This programme comprises a total of 20 series.

The programme was organised by the Federal Youth and Sports Office in collaboration with the Taman Sejati Ujana Youth Club and strategic partners, including the Sandakan Municipal Council, the Sabah Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Sandakan National Unity and Integration Department, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force’s Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT), Rela Sandakan, Club Heritage Libaran Football, and the Sandakan People’s Housing Project (PPR) management team.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Assistant Youth and Sports Officer of the Sandakan Division, Idi Ladinda.
