Kuala Lumpur: The communications and digital ministry will expand the government’s Madani anniversary programme to every district nationwide, minister Fahmi Fadzil says.

He said the programme was the best platform for the people to understand the policies, initiatives and achievements of the unity government.

He also said that the programme, which will kick off at Bukit Jalil National Stadium tomorrow, might not be easily accessible for those outside the Klang Valley.

“Perhaps it is quite far for those outside Kuala Lumpur, so I have requested the information department to arrange a similar, smaller-scale programme in every district across the country,” he said on the Malaysia Hari Ini programme on TV3 today.

Fahmi said the programme would involve all ministries, agencies and government-linked companies.

“Our booth will highlight the aspect of the digital economy, which is vital for the country’s economic growth.

“We will also address digital literacy issues, including public understanding of data security, scam prevention and secure transactions.

“This programme will also feature activities such as the Madani mega sale, Rahmah sales programme, lucky draws, counters to pay traffic summonses at a discounted rate and a career carnival,” he said.

Previously, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the programme would not merely be a festivity but a means of reporting what had been accomplished.

The three-day programme, to run from 9am to 10pm, will focus on three components – the achievement showcase, the people’s touchpoint service and the people’s well-being initiatives – with the government expecting more than 200,000 visitors to attend.
