Man jailed for threatening to slash uncle
Mohamad was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced an unemployed man to 10 months jail for threatening to slash his uncle with a butcher’s knife.

Mohamad Shahfizan, 22, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to committing the crime against Adam Jibra, 43, at 8pm on Aug 31 in a house at Kg Lok Urai, Pulau Gaya.

The facts of the case tendered by the prosecution stated that prior to the incident, Mohamad had punched his grandmother in the ribs because he was woken up from his sleep in the living room.

Adam, who happened to be in the living room at the time, grabbed Mohamad’s neck.

Mohamad then ran to the kitchen and took the knife and threatened to slash his uncle by saying “Aku akan tetak kau (I will cut you)”.

Mohamad was subsequently subdued by relatives and handed over to the police.

In another case, five people were penalised for taking drugs.

Teddy Don, Alvin Basil, Elson Mabar, Randyong Esiruma and Ikwan Latip pleaded guilty to committing the offence after they were tested positive for syabu and amphetamine, respectively.

Teddy was sentenced to 18 months jail, Alvin was fined RM2,000 or eight months jail while the rest were handed seven months jail each. Taking drugs under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail on conviction.
