4X4 world mourns loss of Japanese enthusiast

Kota Kinabalu: The world of off-road adventure mourns the loss of Toshiharu Urabe, a Japanese man who was widely recognised for his remarkable participation in the Borneo Safari numerous times. 

His legacy lives on in the memories of those who shared the trails with him and the countless enthusiasts inspired by his remarkable achievements.

Among them is Paul Si, a 4X4 enthusiasts who has been actively involved in the field since 1992 in Sabah. 

“I was employed by the Borneo Mail at the time and had the opportunity to participate in the Borneo Safari event in 1992. I first met Toshiharu Urabe in 1988 during his visit to Kuching for the Trans Borneo event, which marked the inaugural 4X4 adventure in Malaysia,” Paul said.
