Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is expected to get a revenue of between RM24 billion and RM30 billion per year within 10 years’ time from its Industrial Timber Policy (ITP) which is targeting to develop 400,000 hectares of timber plantations throughout the State.

Jawala Plantation Industries Sdn Bhd Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Majid Khan said such potentially huge revenue will contribute to the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)  after Forest Management Unit (FMU) licence holders started to replant trees on 400,000 hectares within 10 years or 40,000 hectares per year throughout Sabah, since last year.

Once the action plan of the State Government mooted by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor is realised, he said Sabah will no longer be the poorest State but the richest in the next 10 years.
