Embezzling diesel: Man fined RM50k
Kota Kinabalu: A 67-year-old man was fined RM50,000 or 30 days jail by the Sessions Court here for embezzling 17,195 litres of diesel.

Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim on Wednesday meted out the sentence to Manogaran Supaya after he pleaded guilty.

Manogaran admitted to having scheduled controlled item - diesel  amounting to 17,195 litres in a store in Kg Kionsom, Inanam on Feb 27, this year.

He had violated Regulation 18(1) of the Supply Control Regulations (Amendment) 2021, read with Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961, namely in the course of business he has used and taken scheduled goods, i.e. diesel exceeding the quantity limit of 20 litres specified in Column 2 of the Schedule Part IV of the same Regulation.

Towards this end, State KDPN Director Georgie Abas in a statement here, Friday, reminded that anyone who conducts any trade or business and has in their possession diesel or petrol of over 20 litres must have authorisation documents and a licence authorised by the Controller of Supply to store them.

KPDN always welcomes any information and complaints related to the misconduct of traders, he said.
