‘World’s most expensive’ Musang King durian sold for RM185,000

KOTA KINABALU: A Musang King durian in Raub, Pahang, has fetched RM185,000 per fruit, making it one of the most expensive durians in the world.

Pahang Communication and Multimedia, Youth, Sport and Non-Governmental Bodies Executive Committee Chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, through a Facebook post, said the price of the durian started at RM2,000 at a fund-raising event on Sunday.

In the post, Fadzli claimed it was the most expensive durian in the world.

“The highest bid for a Black Thorn durian fetched RM15,000,” he said in the post.

He also said Pahang Durian Traders Association Chairman Datuk Lye We Ken contributed RM204,444 through the bidding programme held at SMK Sungai Ruan, Raub.

“This means, in total, RM404,444 was successfully collected to improve the school's infrastructure,” he said.
