SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Area Health Office (PKKS) received 100 litres of pesticide from a private company for the department’s mosquito control activities here.

The Malathion pesticide was handed over by Elopura Community Development Leader (PPM) Ng Boon Leng to PKKS representative Dr Siti Fatimah Abdul Ghani Basri at the PKKS office in Mile 7.

Ng said the pesticide was contributed by Syarikat Worthy Palms Sdn Bhd as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme after he received a request from PKKS.

According to Ng, PKKS approached him with the request because their available supply was insufficient to cope with the rising number of active dengue cases in Sandakan and he thanked Webster Lee, one of the directors of Syarikat Worthy Palms Sdn Bhd for responding to his appeal.
