Kota Kinabalu: Miss Merdeka Sabah 23/24, part of the month-long DEC-Cover Sabah Campaign in December, will showcase Sabah’s cultural diversity.
Its goals include empowering the next generation of female leaders, promoting sustainable tourism and fostering community unity.
The initial audition took place at Sutera Harbour Resort on Dec 17, with aspiring contestants displaying enthusiasm and passion.
The panel of judges included Kadazandusun Cultural Association Women’s Council, Chairperson Joanna Kitingan and State-level Unduk Ngadau, Chairperson Pinny Jong Dijen.
For those who missed the first audition, a second session is scheduled for Dec 27. Outstation contestants can participate online, with attractive prizes worth RM38,888 awaiting the winners.
The grand finale on Dec 30 at Padang Merdeka during the Kembara Sabah Tanah Airku Countdown Mega Run will feature the finalists.
Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew is expected to officiate the mega run.
Organised by I Empower Myself & Rock Maestro, the event receives support from the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry, Sabah Tourism Board, Awesome Borneo Holidays and Insecure Beauty.
