Caterer fails to show up, newlyweds' family cooks themselves for guests, loses RM13K
Even though the caterer did not turn up, the wedding went ahead at the Serting Junior Science College hall.
SEREMBAN: A family ended up having to prepare food for guests of a wedding themselves after the caterer they had engaged bailed out at the last minute.

The bride’s brother, Burhanuddin Rabbani Abdul Shukor, 31, posted on Facebook that the caterer was supposed to prepare food for 1,000 guests and also prepare the wedding dais.

Due to the caterer’s no-show, he said the family lost RM13,200.

However, the wedding went ahead at the Serting Junior Science College hall.

“Just to let everyone know, we were conned. The caterer we hired didn’t show up. We called repeatedly but there’s been no response.

“We ended up cooking the food ourselves. We could only prepare food for around 400 people, just simple curry chicken, sambal belacan, fruits and fresh vegetables,” he said, adding that they lodged a police report at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station the night before the wedding.

Burhanuddin also said they were thinking of taking their case to the Malaysian consumer claims tribunal or referring it to lawyers.

Meanwhile, Jempol district police chief Hoo Chang Hook said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
