PENAMPANG: A foreigner died following a fight in front of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bahang, early Sunday.
The 29-year-old odd-job worker was found by a member of the public lying on the road with cuts and stab wounds on the neck, head, hands and feet.
Penampang District Police Chief, Supt Sammy Newton said police received a public complaint about a fight involving several men using machete-type weapons at 4.44am on Dec. 24.
“The victim was confirmed dead by a doctor from Queen Elizabeth I Hospital (HQE I),” he said, adding the case is still under investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police urged witnesses to help in the investigation.

Police also called on the public not to spread photos of the incident that could cause annoyance and public order.
The victim’s wife, who has a year-old boy, and the victim’s cousin who lives in Telipok were informed.
