Tenom: The diversity of races and religions in Malaysia does not hinder its social harmony, said Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Melalap Division Chief Datuk Jamawi Jaafar.

On the contrary, he said, every festival should be celebrated by people of various races and religions in Malaysia as the core of unity and harmony in line with the concept of Civilized Malaysia (Malaysia Madani).

He said sharing festivals is the main key to racial harmony as well as for the well-being of the people and the country.

“Sharing celebrations through the concept of open houses in the main festivals in Sabah such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Christmas with the spirit of visiting one another which has become the practice of the people in Sabah is the basis of strengthening racial unity and harmony in the community.
