SOOK: Sook will be upgraded into a full district soon, said its Assemblyman Datuk Ellron Angin.
Ellron, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, said it is currently under the final study by the Public Service Department before its declaration.
The findings will then be submitted to the State Cabinet for action.
He said, on principle, Sook is fit to be declared a full district.
“We hope the sub-district will be upgraded,” he said after officiating the Kampung Binuow Tengah Tamu, here, last Saturday.
On the Tamu, he commended the efforts of the management committee to materialise it.
“As the people’s representative here, I always support any efforts or activities that lead to the local economic development.”
He said such an initiative would provide an opportunity for the locals to sell their products.
He also assured them that he would help provide the traders with facilities.
“If the existing site is not suitable, the committee can find a new site that can cater to the needs of the small traders in the village and nearby villages,” he said.
Tamu organising chairman Misni Patin said the market has been operating for 13 weeks.
“We plan to shift the site to a bigger space near the village’s field.”
