Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the Spanish Court’s verdict on rogue arbitrator Gonzalo Stampa proved that the claims made by individuals claiming to be the heirs of the Sultan of Sulu were totally baseless.
"The State Government and the people of Sabah were happy with the news. We would like to thank Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (Minister in the Prime Minister's Department - Law and Institutional Reform) and the Federal Government.
"We hope that after this, there will be no more such attempts," he said during an event here today.
Stampa, who controversially ordered Malaysia to pay US$14.92 billion (RM69.88 billion) to the self-claimed heirs of the defunct Sulu sultanate, has been found guilty of contempt of court by a Spanish Court.
