LAHAD DATU: The State Government’s efforts to guarantee the well-being of the people under the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan cover all sections of society.
Segama Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) Head Datuk Mizma Appehdullah said that the elderly are not excluded from government initiatives.
She said the government had provided various initiatives and assistance to help and improve the well-being of this group.
“The government also provides various services through agencies and departments such as the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to look after the welfare of this group,”
She said after a gotong-royong programme to clean the Lahad Datu Elderly Activity Centre (Pawe) office.
Mizma praised the organisation for opening an office in this district, saying that the centre’s opening could provide a conducive environment for the elderly.
She said with the establishment of the centre, senior citizens could carry out daily activities in the community.
She added that the centre could host religious, recreational, therapy, rehabilitation programmes, health talks, training, or appropriate courses.
