APM rescues flood victims in Lahad Datu
APM personnel rescuing the victims stranded in a plantation due to floods.
LAHAD DATU: A dozen people from Kinabatangan and Tawau who were trapped by floods were rescued by Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel at Jalan Dam, Putatan, in Segama, here, on Thursday.

Lahad Datu APM Officer Captain (PA) Ahmad Roslan Kamel said they received information that two groups of people were trapped in the area.

He said 10 people from Kinabatangan were stranded in a plantation for three days after the plantation’s exit was flooded, which depleted their food supplies. 

“We also received information that two individuals from Tawau were trapped with their lorry in another area nearby as the road was inundated by floods.

“After assisting the victims at the first location, our team rushed to the second location to assist the two victims,” he said.

According to Ahmad Roslan, the second location is about 2.4km from the first.

“All 12 victims were successfully rescued and the operation ended at 5.50pm,” he said.
