PENAMPANG: The upgrading of Penampang to a municipality come April is due to the vision of the GRS State Government, said Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Supreme Council Member Datuk John Ambrose.
“Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the then Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, (now Finance Minister) saw the need to upgrade the district after taking over the State administration in September 2020.
“Folks in the district are happy that it will become a reality soon,” he said, Sunday.
Ambrose, who is also Gagasan Rakyat Special Tasks Committee Chairman, said residents can expect better services with the upgrade and hoped its first Municipal Council President would make Penampang livelier and the delivery of services more efficient.
