Apply for grants by March 31, non-Muslim bodies, schools told
Chia also called on non-Muslim religious groups, including temples and churches, to apply for the funding as soon as possible.
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government which provides yearly grants for non-Muslim religious bodies, mission schools, private and vernacular schools is calling on them to apply the grant before the closing date on March 31.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Dr Roland Chia called on Chinese and missionary schools, as well as privately run high schools, primary schools and kindergartens, to apply for the grants before dateline.

He also called on non-Muslim religious groups, including temples and churches, to apply for the funding as soon as possible.

“The State Government is concerned with the welfare and development of educational institutions and religious groups in the State. In particular, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is a leader who  treats the well-being of all races and religions fairly.

Therefore, the financial assistance to non-Muslim religious groups and mission schools, private and vernacular schools has been provided yearly without fail with the objectives to improve development of human capital in the State and ensure the well-being of the people.

Under the leadership of Hajiji, the State Governement has allocated RM56.75 million for the development for non-Muslim religious bodies, mission schools, private and vernacular schools in the State.

This allocation was tabled by Minister of Finance  Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun during the State Budget in November 2023. 

It is hoped that some financial burdens of the school and religious groups can be alleviated, and that the beneficiary party can make good use of the allocation is the necessary aspects, such as improving the hardware and software in school, and as funds for the expenses of repair and maintenance of religious places.

The application form can be downloaded from the website of the Sabah Ministry of Finance (www.mof.sabah.gov.my) or can from the Ministry of Finance office (Block C, 5th Floor) which is located at the Sabah Government Administration Building (PPNS).
