KOTA BELUD: A fire broke out in Jalan Ranau Bypass, Kg Pirasan on Wednesday, destroying a building block that housed a sundry shop, veterinary clinic and courier service outlets. 

There were no reported injuries in the 2.20am fire. According to Kota Belud District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Syazwan Latun, a team was dispatched to the area following a 2.22am emergency call. 

The sundry shop was razed when the team arrived, while the veterinary clinic and courier business premises were 30 and 15 per cent damaged, respectively. 

The team brought the fire under control by 3.04am and operations were completed at 5am.  

The team proceeded to ensure that there were no further hazards on the scene. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
