Kota Kinabalu: Local farmers were introduced to the lower cost of Korean organic farming technology by an award-winning Filipino farmer.

The initiative aimed to develop the cassava (tapioca) farming potential in Sabah, said Jadam trainer and Panasaran Pelangi Sdn Bhd (PPSB) Managing Director George Chong.

PPSB operates a cassava starch mill in Kudat with the capacity to process 200 tonnes of cassava daily, resulting in the production of 50 tonnes of cassava starch and 12 tonnes of animal feed, he said.

He said that the mill requires 3,000 acres of cassava to be planted.
