SANDAKAN: The new Chief Executive Officer of the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Julinus Jeffrey Jimit, pledged to reprint 10,000 updated maps for the Sandakan Heritage Trail.
He made the pledge during his visit to the Sandakan Heritage Trail, accompanied by its founder-chairman Lai King Hang, to view the additional information boards sponsored by STB at the Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan Square, here, on Tuesday.
The new information boards include a QR code, which visitors may use to scan and download the map on their phones.
Lai briefed Julinus on recent upgrades, including the installation of footprints along the trail to aid tourists who walk the trail.
The trail was developed in 2003, and it takes around two hours to complete the walk, which includes all 10 heritage sites as listed on the map.
After walking the 100 steps nearby, Julinus and his team visited the Japanese Cemetery and the Massacre Monument on the top of the hill.
Sandakan Tourism Association President CK Teo was also there, as were other Sandakan Heritage Trail volunteers and STB officials.
The Sandakan Heritage Trail is a must-visit for both local and foreign visitors.
