SANDAKAN: Tourism, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said education remains an important aspect in driving progress and development of the State and nation.
He said education policies brought by the Government could ensure that students obtain the best learning in schools, up until the tertiary level.
“At the same time, the cooperation of parents and teachers in ensuring that the students’ learning is at the best level is also very important.
“Well done for this continuous effort and hopefully this cooperation can be implemented at all times for the excellence of our children who will be future leaders.”
He said this in his speech, read by Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Sekong Division Head Saparuddin Abu, when officiating the graduation ceremony of Primary Six students of SRK Sung Siew at Sabah Hotel, here, recently.
A total of 144 Primary Six students were celebrated at the event as they graduate from primary school and advance to secondary school.
Khairul said the ceremony reflected the proactive effort of the school and parents through the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) in driving the students’ development.
“Moulding the young through education should be a practice and culture, not just for SRK Sung Siew but all schools in the State and country, as it will foster harmony and wellbeing among the people.
“This is the spirit and willingness that every member of the community, especially parents, must embody as it determines the success of our children’s education and future,” he said.
Meanwhile, SRK Sung Siew Headmaster Chin Shoon Yuen expressed her appreciation to the members of the school’s Governing Board, PIBG, teachers, school staff and parents for their unwavering effort in making the ceremony a success.
