SIPITANG: Two people were killed when a Proton Saga crashed into the road shoulder along Jalan Sabah Forest Industry.
Sipitang Fire and Rescue Chief Calvin Joe Jeafery said they received the emergency call at 4.59pm and immediately dispatched a fire engine and EMRS utility vehicle to the scene.
“Two victims were removed by the public and sent to the Hospital on an ambulance while three who were pinned inside were extracted by firemen,” he said.
An injured victim was rushed to the hospital in the Emergency Medical Rescue Services ambulance.
Melta Ingu, his 20s and Norsiah Paie, also in her 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers.
Mira Khairul, Sinu Ingu, Menisa Sham, all women in their 20s, suffered injuries.
District Police Chief DSP Mail Sandungi when contacted said Police received a call from a Road Transport Department (RTD) officer about of the accident involving a Proton Saga.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s vehicle was from Speedmart 99 Merintaman headed towards home at Kampung Sibubu Jalan SFI.
“An RTD vehicle tailing behind turned on its beacon light and the Proton Saga driver accelerated.
“At a downhill bend, it lost control and crashed against a fallen log on the left side of the road shoulder.
