Houses, factory, car and m-cycles destroyed
A fireman putting out the fire in Kg Lumat Laut, Beaufort.
BEAUFORT: A house in Kg Lumat Laut was almost destroyed by a fire here on Thursday, said Beaufort Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Hasbullah Nenggok.

He said the station received a distress call about the 8.27am incident and dispatched machinery, including an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle to the scene.

“When the fire team arrived the firemen found that the living room of a semi-permanent house was on fire,” he said, adding that they successfully put out the fire and no fatalities were reported.

Hasbullah said a post term would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and losses.

Head of Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station, PPgB Nurul Azlan Shah, said firemen rushed to the scene located about 150km from BBP Kinabatangan after receiving an emergency call at 9.59am.

Nurul Azlan said that the fire had been put out with help of villagers before the firefighters reached the scene.

“The fire gutted the permanent house, a mini furniture factory, Proton Persona and motorcycles when firemen arrived.

“The villagers successfully put out the fire before we reached the scene,” he said.

He said no casualties were reported while the cause and losses were being investigated.
