Kota Kinabalu: Two men were jailed for a total of 15 months by the Magistrate’s Court, Monday, for having stolen items.
Ahmad Alif Mokrif, 32, and Fazali Johnny, 29, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie and Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence.
Ahmad was jailed 10 months for keeping two rolls of stolen cable belonging to Telekom Malaysia by the side road in front of BSA, Kolombong at 2.30am on Jan 15.
Fazali was jailed five months for keeping two pieces of aluminium and 27 aluminium bars belonging to Yee Tze Yeong on Feb 14 at 4pm at a rent house in Kampung Bundu, Sepanggar.
Ahmad and Fazali were charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine, or both, on conviction.
Ahmad’s counsel Lim Ming Zoong requested a lenient sentence as he is unemployed.
Meanwhile, counsel Carmen Khoo, representing Fazali, also requested a lenient sentence as he is supporting his mother and couldn’t afford to pay a fine.
The court ordered Ahmad and Fazali to serve the sentence from their date of arrest.
