PETALING JAYA: The police have detained a couple after they mistakenly mixed their baby’s formula milk with liquid methamphetamine, reported the
New Straits Times.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar@Ismail said they received information about the incident reported by Kajang Hospital on Feb 20.
He said it is understood that the couple sent the one-year-four-month-old baby to his 55-year-old grandmother’s house in Seri Kembangan on Feb 19.
“While under the care of his grandmother, the baby did not stop crying, was overly active, and difficult to control.
“The woman then asked the baby’s mother about the cause of the baby’s strange behaviour.”
He said the 34-year-old mother then admitted to mistakenly mixing the baby’s milk with methamphetamine belonging to her 40-year-old husband.
The police then arrested the husband and wife at their home in Taman Medan.
“The initial urine screening test conducted on both suspects found them positive for drugs,” he said.
The suspects have been remanded for further investigation, and the baby is now under observation at Kajang Hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
