Kota Kinabalu: The implementation of the Sabah Nature Conservation Agreement (NCA) should be expedited to maximise the benefits of the carbon trading deal for the State and its people.

Anuar Ghani, political secretary to Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, said the NCA has experienced unnecessary delays due to objections by detractors who have not presented better alternatives.

“The path to NCA is an important step for Sabah in achieving sustainable development, laying the foundation for long-term prosperity and well-being for all Sabahans,” he said.

He lamented that the NCA has faced numerous hurdles due to “political demolition job” by opposition parties who agreed to a far less favourable deal, as well as NGOs and civil servants.
