TAWAU: Police detained four men believed involved in a recent gang robbery in the district were arrested on Tuesday.
Tawau Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin, said all suspects aged between 23 and 41 were arrested in separate locations.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that three suspects did not have valid documents while another had nine previous criminal records and drug cases.
He said the police received a report from a victim who said he was approached by a group of men who beat and cut his left hand with a machete.
“The victim’s Benelli 150 motorcycle was also stolen by the group,” he said.
Jasmin said the suspects detained by the Tawau Criminal Investigation Division at separate locations were brought to the station along with the seized items.
The case is being investigated according to Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
