Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old man was charged with having 55.62gm of cannabis.
Mohamad Haffizul Hamzah Abdullah pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to the charge against him, Tuesday.
He is accused of having the drug at 3.10pm on Feb 19 this year behind a supermarket building in Putatan.
The offence, under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act, provides for a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment and at least 10 strokes of whipping, on conviction.
The court set April 5 this year for pre-trial case management and no bail was offered to Mohamad pending the disposal of his case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Atiqah Najihah Azmi appeared for the prosecution while counsel Hairul Vyron defended Mohamad.
