Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old unemployed man was, Tuesday, jailed a total of 36 months on four counts of having stolen properties.
Mohd Fakrulruzi Hashim pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offences on Feb 8 this year at 9.30pm in a room of a unit at Taman Antarabangsa, near here.
On the first count, Fakrulruzi was sentenced to six months’ jail for keeping five units of electrical goods belonging to a company in Kolombong.
Fakrulruzi, on the second count, was handed eight months’ jail for keeping a wallet, a watch and nine pieces of foreign currencies notes stolen from one Lee She Wee.
On the third count, Fakrulruzi was jailed 10 months for keeping two watches, two smartphones, a fence remote control and binoculars, which were stolen from one Wong Tee Vui.
Fakrulruzi received another 12 months jail for the fourth count of keeping a stolen watch belonging to another person.
Each charge was framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or fine on conviction.
Lovely ordered Fakrulruzi to serve the imprisonment sentence consecutively.
Earlier, Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting, informed the court that the complainants of each case lodged police reports regarding their respective house and premises being broken into between Dec 19, 2023 and Feb 8, this year in Kolombong, Luyang and Manggatal, in which their properties including those found with Fakrulruzi, were stolen.
Counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing Fakrulruzi, requested for lower sentence as he was unemployed.
Kelvan applied an adequate sentence.
