Kota Kinabalu: Some 506 fishermen under the Kota Kinabalu Fishermen’s Association (PNK) received Fishermen’s Living Allowance (ESHN) worth RM151,800, here, Friday.
Agriculture and Food Security Deputy Minister Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the RM300 aid per recipient was channelled through the Malaysian Fish Development Board (LKIM).
He said it was to help ease the burden of fishermen who are facing economic pressure due to the increase in the cost of living.
“Usually this allowance is paid directly to the accounts of the fishermen who are registered under the PNK.
