KUNAK: Some 100 boys participated in the Sunathon Perdana Program (circumcision) held at Kunak Hospital, organised by the Wanita Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) and the hospital.
Kunak Assemblywoman Datuk Norazlinah Arif said the mass circumcision involved the children of Asnaf, especially those cared for by single mothers.
The programme is free of charge to help the underprivileged.
“The main aim of the Sunathon Programme is to assist parents and single mothers who couldn’t afford to bring their children for circumcision purposes,” she said.
Norazlinah said similar programmes would be carried out again in the future, especially during school holidays.
In another event, the Kunak PGRS Youth and Beliawanis Movement organised a free haircut programme at the Weng Beauty Saloon parking lot in the Sapang Building in conjunction with the Back to School Carnival Mini Programme, last Sunday.
Norazlinah said there were colouring events for kindergarten and primary school children.
“Children will look neater with new hair for the school opening. We also need to teach children to obey the discipline rules at school,” she said.
