Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Royal Malaysian Customs Department seized contraband beer and cigarettes worth RM5.4 million including taxes in four separate raids this month.
Its Assistant Director-General, Datuk Mohd Nasir Deraman, said the success was result of monitoring by the Sepanggar Port Import Export Branch and follow up action by the the deprtment's Enforcement Operations Unit.
Mohd Nasir said the modus operandi used in all cases were falsifying information on documents by pledging them as other items.
"No arrests were made during the raids and further investigations are underway to trace the store, vehicle owners and importers involved," he said.
