BONGAWAN: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Pertubuhan Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat (Mutiara GRS) provided financial assistance to 29 family heads who lost their homes in the Kg Laut fire on Wednesday as part of its charity programme at the Surau Kg Laut compound.
The Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Juliah Salag who is also Mutiara GRS President, handed RM200 to each household head in addition to her personal donation.
Juliah and the Mutiara GRS team were accompanied to the fire scene by Membakut District Officer Ibrahim Terki and Bongawan Community Development Leader Yusoff Terki.
The fire destroyed 12 houses involving 97 victims from 29 households on March 4.
On March 6, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, who also serves as the State Religious Exco, presented the Kg Laut fire victims with RM35,000 donation from the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) and Perbadanan Baitulmal Negeri Sabah.
Meanwhile, Juliah and her Mutiara GRS delegates visited the Bongawan Community Rehabilitation Centre at Taman Bongawan Ria, which houses 26 residents aged five to 23.
She handed over RM1, 000 in donations from Mutiara GRS to the Centre’s Chairperson, Normah Mammad and spent time with the special residents.
Present were Mutiara GSR Vice President II Datin Seri Linda Ewit who is also the Welfare Bureau Chair, Mutiara GRS Religious Bureau Chair Datin Lenny Natasha Musa, and Mutiara GRS members Datin Sri Asiah Udian, Datin Doreen Asiah Azlan @ Philip, Datin Nurul Ililiyana@ Doris Joprit and Kimanis Member of Parliament’s wife, Datin Dr Rohamini @ Rumani Sibin.
