Kota Kinabalu: Introducing climate justice education in schools and universities can play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and raising awareness about the consequences of deforestation.
“By legislating such initiatives, Sabah can empower future generations with the knowledge and tools to advocate for sustainable development practices and safeguard the precious biodiversity of its Borneo jungle,” said Sabah Sarawak Rights Organisation President Emily Edwards.
“The time for complacency is over. Let us heed the call to action and unite in our efforts to preserve the jungle. It is imperative that we act swiftly and decisively to reverse this destructive threat and safeguard the biodiversity and ecological integrity of this vital ecosystem,” she told the Borneo Rainforest Law Conference, recently.
The three-day event saw a gathering of legal experts, environmental activists, indigenous leaders and researchers discussing issues surrounding climate justice and human rights.
