Kota Kinabalu: The petrol bomb attack at KK Mart, in Bidor, Perak, is feared to be prolonged if not dealt with seriously and firmly by the authorities, said Upko Youth Head Felix Joseph Saang.
“The government needs to take strict action against those who act violently, as seen in Perak.”
“Investigations must be carried out diligently to identify and punish the perpetrators of this attack to prevent its recurrence,” Felix added.
Expressing concern, Felix mentioned that this incident could potentially escalate into further unrest, posing a threat to the nation’s peace.
He noted, “There are certain parties who may exploit this ‘sock’ issue for political gain.”
Acknowledging the mistakes made, Felix pointed out that KK Mart had issued a public apology, and the company’s owner is facing legal repercussions.
“Political leaders should refrain from exploiting this issue as it could adversely impact the country,” he urged.
Amid various challenges including economic issues and the cost of living, Felix emphasized that such controversies could tarnish the country’s image in the eyes of foreign investors.
Felix expressed confidence in the unity of Malaysians, emphasizing their shared values of peace, harmony, and mutual respect across different religions and races.
In conclusion, he appealed, “Let’s cease turning trivial matters like socks into political fodder that could harm our nation,” he said.
