Kota Kinabalu: The Association of Wives of People’s Representatives, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (Mutiara GRS) has contributed 380 baskets containing traditional and modern Hari Raya cookies, dates, serunding and drinks, among others, to members of the security forces and health workers in the country.
Its President Datin Seri Juliah Salag, who is also the wife of the Chief Minister, said that the donation of the baskets was to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the officers on the front line on duty during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Along with her Mutiara GRS members, she said they wrapped the Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions organised by Welfare Bureau held at the Mutiara GRS House, Jalan Penampang near here on March 27.
“Hopefully, with these small donations of Hari Raya cookies, food and sweets, will cheer the members of the security forces while on duty and carrying out the trust to enable the people to celebrate Aidilfitri,” she said in a statement here.
Meanwhile, Mutiara GRS Vice President Datin Linda Ewit who is also Chairman of the Welfare Bureau, said the number of Hari Raya Aidilfitri baskets was more this year than last year.
“Apart from the security forces and health workers, this year Mutiara GRS also contributed to Immigration and Customs, especially those who will be on duty on 1 Syawal,” she said.
According to Linda, Juliah will hand over the Hari Raya baskets to the Chief Minister who will then hand them over to the security forces, health workers and others scheduled for April 4.
