Kota Kinabalu: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Sabah branch has set a list of 19 goods to be covered under the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), which took effect from Friday (April 5) until April 19.

Sabah KPDN Enforcement Chief Zulfamy Mat Udi said the implementation period is 15 days, which is five days before the festival, two days during the festival and eight days after the festival.

“A total of 19 types of goods are gazetted for the implementation of SHMMP Hari Raya Puasa 2024 and price checks can be made through the KPDN website.

“The scheme will be enforced through the Price Control and Anti-Profitability Act (AKHAP) 2011, and allows price determination to be made at the wholesaler and retailer level,” he said in a statement after conducting a walkabout at Emart Lintas Jaya Supermarket, here, Friday.

“The scheme is implemented as a measure to stabilise the prices of goods throughout the Hari Raya Puasa festive season and ensure the availability of supplies in the market,” he said.

Zulfamy said KPDN Sabah has mobilised 192 enforcement officers and 74 price monitor officers in strategic locations throughout the State to monitor the existence of supplies and compliance as well as carry out inspections at public markets, farmers’ markets and shopping centres.

“This approach allows enforcement to be carried out more effectively and immediate action can be taken against user complaints in the event of non-compliance.

“Sabah KPDN has carried out inspections on 15,937 premises since January 1, 2024 until April 5, 2024 and has produced 282 cases with a compound value of RM31,900, with an estimated seizure value of RM 2,191,101,” he said.
