Programmes to empower women, says MP
Vivian said it is one of the efforts to help women to be able to generate income through skills and talks, including entrepreneurship.
SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Parliamentary Service Centre continues implementing several programmes to empower women.

Sandakan MP, Vivian Wong Shir Yee, said it is one of the efforts to help women to be able to generate income through skills and talks, including entrepreneurship.

“This is also one of the efforts to eradicate poverty among the target group while also increasing their income,” she after attending the parliamentary level Madani Breaking of Fast event with Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung at the Sandakan Community Hall, here, on Sunday.

Also present were Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek, Jetama Waters Sdn Bhd Chairman Liau Fui-Fui, Sandakan Municipal Council Secretary Imran Tajuddin, Frankie’s wife Datin Alice Chan, Tanjong Papat State Assembly Community Development Leader Max Million Lee, Organising Council Chairman Monelizah Tahir and Sandakan Parliamentary Coordinator and Sandakan DAP Youth Leader Tang Szu Ching.

On the ceremony, Vivian hoped it would give some cheer to all the recipients and those being celebrated.

Meanwhile, Frankie said the program also celebrates the diversity of backgrounds in the country with full harmony.

“Just like the previous years, we celebrate the various festivals with joy and harmony,” he said.

Vivian and Frankie presented Aidilfitri baskets to 38 single mothers, 62 underprivileged families and Raya money to 100 orphans from several charities and orphanages in Sandakan.

The ceremony was also graced with Qasidah performances from Miftahul Jannah and Greenleaf Busking.
