Singapore recalls instant bak kut teh products imported from unapproved source in Malaysia

KOTA KINABALU: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered a recall of instant bak kut teh products imported from an unapproved source in Malaysia, Channel News Asia reported. 

The two products – dry and soup versions of Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice – contain more than 5 per cent pork, the agency said in a media release on Friday.

"Meat and meat products that contain more than 5 per cent of meat can only be imported from accredited sources," said the report, Friday.

As a precautionary measure, SFA directed the importers, Biscotti Trading and Boughtnex, to recall the implicated products – Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice (Dry) 350g and Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice (Soup) 450g.
